Stephanie Leitl, born in Vienna, Austria, started working on film sets right after graduating from high school only 18 years old. Her great grand father (Anton Lutz) was an impressionistic painter and influenced her in being fascinated by light and images.
After working a couple of years in the lighting and camera department in Austria and Germany she got accepted at Munich Television and Film University into the cinematography department. Receiving 4 years of profound classical education in directing and cinematography many of her first shorts are still shot on film. Close to graduating in 2008 she was awarded an scholarship to Beijing Film Academy. She studied as exchange student in BFA cinematography department for one year. After graduating from both academies she lives and works now as a cinematographer at the local film and media industry in Beijing.
